Circa 12th Century. This has been called Transitional Armour as it appears at the end of the age of mail and represents the first step towards a full plate armour.
The one piece elbow is for people who are concerned about weight but still want excellent protection for their elbows. It covers the elbow joint and the ‘points’ either side, basicially the really important bits.
You could use these arms for SCA combat archery, SCA full contact combat, Metal weapons combat.
This armour can be used with a chain by attaching it by arming points through to a gamberson/padded jacket beneath.
These elbows are made from robust 16 gauge (1.6mm) steel and come as a pair.
