Egyptian Cat Pendant

This metal pendant is based on an Egyptian carved figure. The Egyptians shared their envionment with many differnt beasts, birds, fish and reptiles. These animals would appear on mnay objects including sculptures, jewellery and hieroglyphics. These animals were thought of as part of the 'world system" made by the sun god, and as earthly versions of many gods.

The Cat was sacred to the Egyptian goddess Baset, a goddess of love, fertility and joy.
