Product Description

Horns are excellent for the re-enactor or ethusiast who enjoys drinking with a difference. The are great for Beer, Wine, Mead, Cider, Water or any juice, not modern sugar-carbonated drinks, or hot drinks like tea or coffee (you can't hold them)

These are 100% cow horn and are highly polished . They are coated inside with a food grade resin which with normal use should last three or four years before re-coating is required. They can be cleaned with warm soapy water but we don't recommend submerging them for a long time as the are a natural product and can change their shape in very hot water.

We have a range of sizes to meet the needs of all modern vikings!

Medieval horn can be said to be the equivalent of modern plastic as it could be moulded, cut and shaped to a variety of shapes for a variety of uses, (spoons, cups, window panes, combs, hair pins, buttons, flasks, musical instruments, jelly)

Horn was used as drinking vessels most famously by the Norse and Danes (Vikings), but it was a commonly used product by the rich and poor alike throughout Europe for many centuries.

There are documentary examples of drinking horns being used by the upper nobility as late as the fifteenth century in England.
